Maud has been teaching flamenco dance to children from the age of 8 through to 16 for several years now and caters to different levels of ability.
Bio
Born in 1973 in Geneva, Maud grew up in a musical environment, thanks to a mother who played the violin. She began musical studies at the age of 7, piano at the age of 9 and then classical and contemporary dance with Claude Golovine. In 1989, she discovered flamenco with Ana la China and studied under her before becoming her assistant in 2002.
Having refined her style with numerous masters (Javier Cruz, Javier Latorre, Angelita Gomez, Juana Amaya, Mercedez Ruiz, Alicia Marquez, Carmen Ledesma, la Tati, Concha Vargas), Maud took to the stage. In 2006, she performed at the Grand Théâtre of Saint-Gall and then in December 2007 at Geneva’s Grand Théâtre.
With a wealth of diverse experience, Maud is constantly seeking new forms of expression and performs regularly on stage in Switzerland, Lebanon (in 2013), and France (in 2014). She is a founding member of La Cueva Flamenca. At the same time, she regularly teaches at ethnomusicology workshops and leads workshops at La Bulle d'Air.

SCHEDULE:
Wednesday:
4:15–5:15 p.m. children’s class (ages 8–12)
5:20–6:20 p.m. teen class (ages 13–16)
Saturday: Adult workshops from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM without guitar, and on dates to be announced from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM with guitar accompaniment
FEES:
700.- CHF per year
1st quarter: 240.- CHF
2nd quarter: 230.- CHF
3rd quarter: 230 CHF
Teen classes: 750 CHF per year or 250 CHF per quarter (based on 3 quarters).
Mandatory ADEM membership fee: 50 CHF per year

NEW COURSE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

This course proposes to discover with your family the kathak dance and the culture of North India. Between dances and tales, you will learn to know Ganesh, the elephant-headed god or Krishna, the young cowherd who plays the flute. You will become even more skilful with your hands with games of mudras (codified hand gestures) and learn to count in Hindi! Travel guaranteed!

These regular workshops are a chance to try out the Martina A. Catella method and its Sing the World application, in order to ‘discover the voice, the world, its cultures and languages through song’. This original approach brings together technique, games and repertoires borrowed from traditional societies the world over for their learning values and beauty.
