Aznach Ensemble - Zoura

This album is one of the first easily accessible releases ever produced on Chechen music.  Aznach is a group of five Chechen women who emigrated from Georgia.  They have focused on a large range of traditional songs: religious a cappella songs inspired by the Sufi tradition, ballads inherited from the ancient Caucasian bards and love songs accompanied by the accordion or the mandalina (lute).  This diverse repertoire is beautifully served up by the five soloists.

“A music steeped in the strength and dignity of an invincible people”   (Répertoire)
